when the sun rose on sun ra in the mid-20th century, his innovative style cast a shining light that spurred the development of modern jazz and other forms of popular music. just listen to the captivating sound of india on this album. crashing cymbals herald a haunting theme established by the composer, playing an electric piano, which draws the listener into a mysterious soundscape that haunts the imagination. such exotic use of percussion and instrumental effects was way ahead of its time when the album super-sonic jazz was first released in 1957.

ltd 2019 repress - debut album from blawan, possibly one of the finest techno records you ll hear this year ... physically and mentally draining in the best way possible, wet will always dry is maybe the most complete statement from blawan to date, and as such should be ignored at your peril. this becomes evident from the album-opening “klade,” a dizzying, tumbling flight of pure energy over overlapping fields of electrified menace. this sets the stage for “careless,” which retains the hazardous, crackling atmosphere but dials back the intensity just enough to make room for a new feature, blawan’s eerie and disembodied vocals.

limited 2018 repress ! before producing on roulé, dj falcon worked in a&r department at virgin. in 1999 he released his first ep (on roulé) and produced a remix of cassius’ “la mouche” which is an all-time classic now. one year later, he started working with thomas bangalter on a track called “together”. two years later, the second release “so much love to give” of the duo appeared, which also remained the last release of dj falcon for a very long time. after 10 years of releasing nothing, dj falcon finally made a comeback in 2012 with several remixes such as justice’ “new lands”, alex gopher’s “hello inc.” and alan braxe’s “time machine”. in 2013 he reunited with thomas bangalter to release the track “contact” on the daft punk album “random access memories” together with guy-manuel de homem-christo.
